Wanda Mastor, Relationships between law and ethics in Ronald Dworkin's work. The strenght of Hercules and Achilles' heel
Unquestionably, the relationship between Law and ethics in Ronald Dworkin’s work is an integrative one. The law system includes rules, but also pre-existing “principles” which oblige the interpreter in their decision making. These principles, guiding justice Hercules in the pursuit of the one right answer, are his main strengths, but also his Achilles’ heel. Although Ronald Dworkin’s theory is attractive, it evidences some inconsistencies. Neither true, nor wrong, these ethical principles are, in reality, only the fruit of the law made by the judges.
