Paper's abstract

Jacqueline Morand-Deviller, Town, landscape and beauty
Like Aristotle wished, aesthetic has taken existence, by the effect of law, in the realm of urbanism and environment. It is therefore the duty of administrators and judges to secure the respect of legal dispositions prudently but without any disproportionate shyness. The majority verdict against the "ugly" will guide them in these delicate interpretations, inspired by the popular fervour toward protecting the heritage against vandalism, a stimulating and recent social phenomenon.
