Neural Plasticity and Free Will
With recent discoveries on neural plasticity, one can better understand relations between nervous structures and human behavior. According to Kandel and Edelman, the concept of “free will” can be relevant. Confrontation of Libet’s experiments and Wegner’s interpretations lead first to the problematic of determinism, which will be analyzed from scientific and philosophical points of view. Relations with language are then studied in reference to works of Habermas and Davidson. While language activities articulate to neural plasticity, explanatory model is proposed where language has effective impact on human behavior. Effective human free will seems thinkable.
