Sarah Sauneron, What are the links between cognitive ageing, professional sphere and health prevention?
In a society characterized by a great lengthening of life span, the impact of cognitive ageing is to be considered at an individual level as well as where the collectivity is concerned. In the professional sphere, some stereotypes about the old person are circulating (in particular less flexibility and performance), without resting on any fact : professional expertise grows along side age and allow the person to withstand the nefarious effects of ageing on cognitive functions. In the same way, some studies tend to prove that the more a person is active after 55 years (professional, physical and social activities), the best are his cognitive feats. This happens all the more if the activity is rich in social interactions and intellectual stimulations.
