Paper's abstract

Jean-Gabriel Ganascia, From Digital Humanities till Technological Singularity. What Remains of Humanism?
After recalling what is the computer version of trans-humanism and its links with technological Singularity, we develop here a reflection on the future of Humanity, of humanism and of humanities in the context of a rapid Information Technology development. The first part recalls the many public announcements that predict the soon coming end of Humanity. We then analyze what the end of Humanity means by first distinguishing between the end of mankind and the end of human existence. The third part investigates the meaning of an end of humanism, humanism being here understood as the consideration that the human being is the supreme value. The last part discusses the end of humanities and concludes on the emergence of a new digital humanism, which gives a rebirth to the humanities.
