Agathe Van Lang, The Convention citoyenne pour le climat from the Perspective of Environmental Law: A Unique Participatory Mechanism Being Institu¬tionalized
This contribution examines the characteristics as a new participatory procedure of the Convention citoyenne pour le climat, which took place in France. Confronted to the categories of environmental law, as well as to other informal models that preceded it, it affirms its singularity. Its particular integration in the normative process also contributes to it since the legal conversion of the Convention's proposals has already begun. In addition, the current reform of the Conseil économique, social et environnemental should preserve the organization of deliberations among citizens drawn by lot, thus placing the prototype of the Convention in a renewed participatory mechanism.
